About Us
Deep in Colombia, along the Caño Cristales river, grows a plant that only blooms under the sun: the Macarenia clavigera. When the light touches it, the water lights up in reds, pinks, oranges, yellows, and greens — a phenomenon that exists nowhere else, in that river, in that instant.
Macarenia was born from that same idea: that there's a version of us that only appears when we give ourselves permission to shine.
We're a swimwear brand made by and for Latina women who carry Colombia with them, wherever they live. Each silhouette is born from a place, a color, a feeling from our land, and is made to move with every woman's body.
We don't design to hide. We design for the water to find you the way the river finds the Macarenia: ready to light up.
This is more than swimwear. It's an invitation to bloom wherever you are.
"There's a version of you
that only the sun knows."
Meet Adriana & Marcela, Macarenia Founders
Marcela and Adriana are Colombian sisters living in the United States who decided to bring Colombia with them — not as a memory, but as something alive. Marcela is a psychologist who understood that how we see ourselves starts with how we feel in our own bodies. Adriana studied international business and knew what it would take to build something that could cross borders. Together, they had both the understanding of why this mattered and the vision to make it real — and they chose to do it through something as intimate as a swimsuit, because few garments leave us as exposed. For them, that vulnerability wasn't an obstacle. It was exactly where they wanted to meet other women.
